Updated: Mar 26

Kristen Oldham

Meet Kristen Oldham, a single mom of 3 girls who works 2 full time jobs as a hair stylist and daycare provider to make ends meet.  Kristen has medical issues herself,  has been supporting family members with mental health issues, and is now helping to care for her 21 year old daughter, who was recently diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.   It has been an extremely tough year for Kristen and her girls and they can use our support.

Jay Paparone

In August 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Jay Paparone suffered a massive stroke that significantly impacted his life. As a result of the long-term effects of his medical condition, Jay is unable to perform many activities of daily living. He experiences seizures, has permanent paralysis on his right side, and has lost much of his ability to speak.

Jay has been a lifelong resident of Elmhurst. His educational journey began at Visitation Grade School and continued at York High School, where he met his wife, Kris. Together, they built a loving and enduring partnership. Jay and Kris are proud parents to two wonderful sons, Joe and Josh Paparone, who have been steadfastly supportive throughout Jay's recovery. Anyone who knows Jay fondly recalls his deep love for his family, his sharp sense of humor, and his passion for music and sports.

Jim Grebin

Meet Jim Grebin.  He was diagnosed with rectal cancer in March 2021 and endured chemo and radiation and still has a small tumor. Jim is self-employed and owns a lawn care business by himself. After returning to work too soon, he developed a perinal hernia requiring another surgery in December. He is the sole provider for his wife, who recently had back surgery, and their three children.
